Terms & Conditions

By commissioning research you agree to these terms and conditions

  1. Once a commission is received and discussed with both parties then a free consultation will commence. This includes completing an initial contact form to clarify the research request and I will undertake some brief research to check that the project is viable

  2. After the free consultation, research will commence at the hourly rate or as part of a package

  3. Research will not exceed the budget agreed unless permission from the client is granted

  4. It is the responsibility of the client to ensure that the details of all previous research is provided to avoid repeated research

  5. Research will not begin until a 50% deposit of payment has been cleared

  6. Travel is charged at 45p per mile

  7. The final balance will be paid once the research has ended and before the research report is sent to the client

  8. Certificates are charged at cost price for bespoke work

  9. Fees are payable by the client for the research and travel expenses (where applicable) whether or not the desired information is found. However, for packages, if the 4 generations can not be found then the final monies will be adjusted

  10. The desired results may not be found or they might not be what you expected. I accept no responsibility for any emotional distress. Negative results will be recorded in the report and will serve as a record of the lines of enquiry investigated

  11. Photographs, letters and other relevant documents supplied by the client can be included but to preserve them and to avoid any losses it is recommended that these are emailed to me. I accept no liability for damage or loss during the commission

  12. Regarding family history narrative books where the research has already been undertaken by the client, this research will be checked and verified as far as possible

  13. If the client decides to cancel after research has commenced then the deposit will not be returned
